| SMEs offered 50 000 EUR incentive to develop innovative Galileo applications |
The Galileo Masters 2005 competition closed the 30 June this year. Small businesses, entrepreneurs and researchers were being offered 50 000 EUR in business development support to come up with the best idea for new applications for Galileo, Europe’s satellite navigation system. Above all SMEs were encouraged to produce new products for Galileo or for existing standards. The competition was held in seven high-tech regions all over Europe. Experts will select the best idea for their region and from among these an overall winner will be chosen. “To find out information about the signal and then use it for a novel application is the sort of thinking we are looking for in small companies. Companies must wake up now because in four years they will have to move their businesses in a direction for Galileo”, said one of the competition organizers.
